Basic Shapes

Basic Shapes

It’s always good to review the basics. Here are some geometric shapes from last semester.  No matter how much I improve, ellipses will always be there to keep me humble.

  1. These look really great mate. I’ve seen them done by others from time to time, and always wondered what’s the main thing you’re practicing here the shapes, or the shading or is it a bit of both? The colouring reminds me of some of Escher’s stuff.

    • It’s both to practice the basic structures as well as a training the eye to see light and shadow using a five value system for shading to achieve a sense of volume/spatial depth.
